Tamiya is pleased to announce the reissue of the 1/20 kit of the Toyota Celica LB Turbo Gr. 5 (initially marketed under the ref. 20009 in 1978; not motorized this time) with new Cartograf decals, new slick tires and a multilingual instruction manual including French. The Toyota Celica LB Turbo was a Group 5 car developed for the 1977 German DRM championship. Based on the production Celica Liftback, the car featured aerodynamic elements such as protruding fenders and rear spoiler, and numerous body panels considerably modified were made of fibers. The 2,090 cc in-line 4-cylinder double overhead camshaft turbocharged engine developed 560 horsepower. After its debut in July 1977, the Celica LB Turbo Gr.5 beat the Porsche 935 and won its first victory the following October.• 1/20 scale assembly model. Length: 240mm, width: 105mm, height: 61mm.• Muscular shapes of the “silhouette” formula perfectly understood.• Faithful reproductions of the engine and the protective cage.• Removable front cover to see the 4-cylinder engine in line.• New high quality decals printed by Cartograf.• Driver figure included.• Realistic synthetic rubber slick tires.• Two race number possibilities, 56 or 68.
