Product description : Lockheed P-38J Lightning
THE MOST IMPORTANT VERSION OF THE LEGENDARY LIGHTNINGTHE US AS FIGHTER OF THE PACIFIC WAR
This late version of the famous P-38 Lightning which succeeded the F and G (61120) stood out by its "chin" radiators (so called because of their protruding air intakes) now located under each engine. 2,970 P-38Js were produced between August 1943 and June 1944 which, combined with the P-38L, constitutes two thirds of the approximately 10,000 P-38s produced. The first two American WWII aces flew the P-38J, demonstrating its effectiveness in the Pacific War.
• 1/48 scale buildable kit.
• Length: 240mm, Wingspan: 330mm.
• All features of the late J version of the P-38 meticulously reproduced.
• New front radiators and new compressors.
• Closed or open canopy.
• Cockpit conforming to a late Lightning with joystick (replacing the steering wheel) and Lynn-3 sight.
• Reinforced landing gear conforming to a late P-38.
• Three metal balls to install in the nose and the engines so that the model rests well on its tricycle train.• Additional tanks of 150 and 300 gallons to choose from.
• Three possibilities of markings for the devices great American aces of the Pacific War:
“Marge” by Major Richard I. Bong (40 victories),
“Pudgy” by Major Thomas McGuire (38 victories)
“Putt Putt Maru” of Colonel Charles Henry MacDonald (27 victories).
Scale : 1:48
The 1:48 scale is the queen size scale for model planes. Military models are also available in this scale. A model that is 1:48 scale is 48 times smaller than the real object. For example, a model airplane in the 1:48 scale measures 13 inches / 31.25 cm long if the real object is 15 m (1500 cm).
