The Macchi MC.200 Série XXI-XXIII model kit from Italeri lets you build one of the most emblematic Italian fighters of the Second World War. This 1:48 scale kit is designed with great precision to satisfy military aviation enthusiasts of all levels. The Macchi MC.200, also known as the "Saetta", is faithfully reproduced with authentic details that capture the essence of this legendary fighter.

The Macchi MC.200 "Saetta" (lightning bolt) is an Italian World War II fighter, designed by the famous engineer Mario Castoldi and produced by Aeronautica Macchi. Entering service in 1939, the MC.200 was widely used by the Italian air force (Regia Aeronautica) during the early years of the conflict. Its ruggedness, maneuverability and characteristic open cockpit made it a favorite among pilots, although its performance was surpassed by that of more modern allied fighters over time. Like the Fiat G.50, this fighter was distinguished by its monoplane configuration and all-metal structure. The 14-cylinder Fiat A.74 RC 38 double star engine developed 840hp, enabling it to reach speeds of up to 500km/h. Compared with Allied fighters, however, it was underpowered and lacked sufficient firepower. The only internal armament was two Breda-SAFAT 12.7mm bonnet-mounted machine guns. On the last versions produced, two additional machine guns - 7.7mm Breda-SAFATs - were mounted in the wings. The MC.200 took part in several theaters of operation, including North Africa, the Mediterranean and the Eastern Front, where it fought with distinction.
