Product description : Short Sirling Mk.III
Short Sirling Mk.III
The Short Stirling was Britain's first four-engined heavy bomber of World War II. It had a high wing, four engines and a cockpit raised above the fuselage. The cell was entirely metallic.
Another element that characterized the bomber was the impressive size of the landing gear. The first Stirlings entered service with RAF Bomber Command in late 1940. Operational status was achieved in January 1941 and the first war mission was in February 1941 against logistics facilities in Rotterdam.
The Stirling Mk. I was capable of carrying a large offensive load of more than 6,000 kg of bombs and was defended by eight 7.7 mm machine guns. The direct successor of the Mk.I version was the Mk.III, fitted with new and improved Bristol Hercules XVI engines and reinforced defensive armament.
Scale : 1:72
The 1:72 scale is ideal for model planes, military models and figurines. This means that the model is 72 times smaller than the actual object. For example, a model 1:72 scale airplane measures8 inches / 20cm in length if the real object measures 14.4 m (1440 cm). The figurines in the 1:72 scale measure about 1 inch / 2.5cm high.
