Produced in the years 1942-1945, it became the most recognizable American tank. The T34 Calliope was a 60-tube launcher that fired 114.3 mm (4.6 inch) M8 rockets. The entire structure of the launcher was made of plywood. It was a one-off construction and was removed after all the rockets had been fired. The advantage of the launcher was the large number of missiles fired, with better performance than the German equivalent Nebelwerfer. The disadvantages included not the greatest accuracy of the rockets and the way they were mounted on the tank, which posed a significant threat to the crew in the event of urgent evacuation. Calliope was developed in 1943 and about 200 were produced.
