HMS Erebus was a ship of the Franklin Arctic Expedition, led by Sir John Franklin in 1845. Along with HMS Terror, Erebus ventured into the Arctic ice and never returned, becoming Sir John Franklin's lost expedition. The Erebus was built in 1826 and was 88 meters long. It was one of the most technologically advanced ships of its time, equipped with steam engines and designed to withstand the harsh conditions of the Arctic. However, despite its innovations, the expedition suffered serious setbacks and none of the 129 crew members aboard the Erebus and Terror survived. HMS Erebus has become a symbol of Arctic exploration and human tenacity in the face of adversity. You will only find it at OcCre.

Erebus and Terror from Franklin's lost expedition
HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were two ships that were part of Sir John Franklin's lost Arctic expedition in 1845. Both ships were technologically advanced for their time and were equipped with steam engines to navigate Arctic waters . The expedition sought to find the Northwest Passage, but became trapped in the ice and never returned. After several years with no news of the ships, a search was launched which led to their discovery in 2014 and 2016. Although remains of the expedition were found, the exact cause of its failure was never determined, this which has led to many theories and speculations. The Erebus and Terror are remembered as symbols of Arctic exploration and the bravery of explorers who ventured into unknown and dangerous territory.
