The legend of the Tug Hercules
During its first years in service, the Hercules boat operated as an ocean tug. Due to sales from the northwest, sailboats often used the Hercules on their trips north via the San Francisco coast.

In the past, the Hercules was used for the towing of boats to various destinations on the west side of the United States, Hawaii, and also in the transportation of raw materials for the construction of the Panama Canal.

In 1947, the tugs Hercules and Monarch were taken to tow the helmet from the ship Oklahoma to San Francisco Bay, to destroy it. Unfortunately, when they were passing through Hawaii, a terrifying storm nearly collapsed them, but the Hercules broke free before disappearing there with Oklahoma.

In 1986, it was designated a national monument. Now it remains moored at the Hyde Street wharf, at the National Historical Park, and has become a very important monument.
